Shamans and Santa

Shamans and Santa. Shaman’s cousin Santa, brings the Gift of Renewal!

During the Holiday Season, one just might hear a Christmas Carol, or 2. I liken this to chanting. It is a sacred way to reach out to Spirit and an avenue for Spirit to reach back. Practiced by many around the world, seeking greater health well-being, enlightenment, and a connection to the divine. The vibrations unite the mind, body, emotions, and breath. Imagine how you would feel if you incorporated chanting to open and nurture your creativity, lower stress levels, and give you room to grow in Awake Awareness.

Shamans and Santa
A shaman’s cousin?

Some people are naturally drawn to chant while others feel awkward using their voices in such a way. Singing along with recorded chants before chanting on your own can help dispel any nervousness. However, the chanting that will resonate most deeply and beneficially for you is the chanting you do for yourself. There are many different chants. They can be composed of names, words, sounds, syllables, or even sections of text. What you chant is less important than your willingness to focus fully on the act of chanting itself. [Read more…]

Mind Medicine

Mind MedicineHow many times have you asked yourself “Am I really seeing this?” or “How can I trust myself…”? It is invaluable to ask yourself questions to stir your own consciousness to be, as much as one can be, objective when pursuing a relationship to Self and the Spirit World.

We all bump up against our own limitations, biases, and preconceived notions of how connected or open-minded we are. We only bump up against ourselves, when we are truly pushing against our own limitations. How does one move from one state of consciousness to another? How does one know when an authentic spiritual connection has occurred? How does one know when they are blocking their own journeys? [Read more…]

Flicker

Latin: Colaptes Chrysoides
Red Bellied Woodpecker (Flicker)
Red Bellied Woodpecker (Flicker)

The Spirit Bird associated with the Strong Suns Moon (June 21 to July 22) is the Flicker. Flickers are woodpeckers. They are considered the drummers of natural world. They play their song on dead limbs, tin roofs, and wooden houses, sometimes to extract insects and sometimes for the sheer joy of playing. During mating, flickers present an especially magnificent display of their musical talents.

Bear

Latin: Ursus Arctos

Bear are the great dreamers. Bears demonstrate very gentle and truly loving. However they can be deadly if approached wrong, or at the wrong time of the year.

There are different traditions in North America which teach that the peoples descended from the bear, and hence Bear has a very honoured position spiritually speaking.

Bear has been one of my most constant, gentlest and harshest teachers and is a great friend to have on any shamanic journey.

Bear has an intense sense of smell. Our Ancestors watched which plants the Bear ate. We learnt different remedies by eating the same vegetation bears ate.

West

I had to walk a long time on the Medicine Wheel before I was ready to merge with West. Water is the Element of West. The Spirit Keeper of West is Mudjekeewis, who manifests so beautifully as the Great Bear.

On the wheel the time of the Mudjekeewis is the Evening till Midnight, Autumn, our adult years to elder time. This is the time of slowing down & taking stock of experiences, of going within, like the Grizzly in autumn, of going within spiritually, gaining strength from the knowledge  earned; prepare for the time of “winter” or later times.

As with South, West widened my spiritual vision. I have had a most amazing relationship with Water & Orcas. They are one of the eldest [Read more…]
