Love and Forgiveness

Love and Forgiveness
Love and Forgiveness are intricately woven into our psyche. The only way to truly experience one is with the understanding of the other. Love is, ultimately, unconditional. It is my experience, we, myself included, are far from a daily experience of giving love unconditionally.  Loving unconditionally, cannot happen in a psyche unable or incapable of forgiveness. As we are humans, with flaws and foibles, it is not a stretch to believe that we hold onto to events, happenings, etc….too long.

Forgiveness is a deep, much-discussed spiritual necessity. Forgiveness is not a weak action. Nor does Forgiveness imply what happened, was alright, or acceptable. [Read more…]

Shamanic Dismemberment

Shamanic Dismemberment

Give me everything mangled and bruised,

And I will make a light of it to make you weep.

And we will have rain,

And begin again.

— Deena Metzger, Leavings

I don’t recall when or how I learnt the term to disassociate or disassociation. It may have come from reading The Three Faces of Eve in the late 1970s. I was very intrigued with MPD, now known as DID. By exploring other personal histories, I began to examine my own personal history. In my shamanic years, I have seen many different aspects of disassociation, from mild coping mechanisms to being completely shut out of any of the basic four bodies. It is not uncommon during soul retrieval work to often hear, “I feel outside myself”. It is not uncommon for me to encounter a full-grown, same age soul piece standing directly, or sometimes, halfway in their physical counterpart on my healing table. [Read more…]

Book Review: The Book of Shamanic Healing

Title: The Book of Shamanic Healing

Author: Kristen Madden

Kristen’s writing comes from the heart. A heart that has grown and changed with the lessons she has learnt. Trained through her family of origin, as well as, what appears to be, a very deep and genuine connection to Spirit. She conveys her understandings of shamanisn in very easy to read language. There are no direct connections in her work, to specific tribes origins. Her book offers very practical advice, coupled with good directions to experience spiritual connection and healing work.

Reading her book you can find yourself in her words. She takes the reader on a very direct route to spirit, offering, along the way, her wisdom, experience and understandings. Her explanations are simple, leaving room for the reader to decide, on their own, the relativity of the exercises, to their own practice.

She does not present her information, as a cultural, or lineage, based system to healing. Any practioner of shamanism, whether brand new, or having a longer practice, will recognize the techniques she describes. Not all of the practices she describes form a neo-shamanic practice. She incorporates various healing modalities, such as Reiki, Homeopathy, crystal therapy, among others. Neo-Shamansim allows for the expansion of the term shamanism.

Kristen provides information on such shamanic healing techniques as Extraction, Soul Retrieval, Drum Healing and the basic shamanic journey. She provides many exercises, making this workbook accessible to anyone on a journey to discover what healing methods work for them.

All About Shamanism

Shamanism has a deep, longstanding history that crosses cultures and continents. It is the oldest known spiritual practice and has evolved into many forms through the centuries. This is just one of the reasons it such a useful tool for spiritual healing. I.e. that the core practices of a Shaman, and within Shamanism have such a universal truth about them that they can be used on their own, or in conjunction with other practices. [Read more…]
