I don’t recall when or how I learnt the term to disassociate or disassociation. It may have come from reading The Three Faces of Eve in the late 1970s. I was very intrigued with MPD, now known as DID. By exploring other personal histories, I began to examine my own personal history. In my shamanic years, I have seen many different aspects of disassociation, from mild coping mechanisms to being completely shut out of any of the basic four bodies. It is not uncommon during soul retrieval work to often hear, “I feel outside myself”.
