This introduction to healing starts here in part 1. If you haven’t, we do recommend that you start there.
Extractions
Since the Shamanic theory of health and illness, focuses on personal power, illness results when a person’s spiritual power is diminished or lost in someway. The Universe hates a void, so if we have lost something it leaves a space for Illness to move into the gap, in the person’s life force. This illness brings with it, patterns of energy that are harmful for the individual. Extraction is the healing method in which a shaman locates a harmful spiritual intrusion in a sick person’s body, and removes it. I have learnt over the years that what I am extracting is often a living breathing spirit with its own intention. It does not have a soul, so it is not a possession, but it is a spirit, in that it has the ability to attach to us. It is our role to first examine the intrusion, ascertain its energetic strength, and then determine how best to remove it.
Extractions can be done with the hand, or mouth, as in a sucking method. A method I would not necessarily ask you to choose. And sometimes with a power object, such as a stone. For most shamanic healers, the extraction process usually involves merging with our spirit guides, and building up personal power in order to confront the intrusion. The shaman finds the location of the intrusion in the body by seeing, hearing, and/or feeling it. The actual extraction, from my experience, is different in every case, as each person is an individual so too is that which is intruding. There are different ways of ridding the shaman and the patient of this intrusion such as placing it in water, burning it with a fire, or various other methods. The release of the intrusion allows it to return to its natural place & its natural state of being, away from our patient.
Changes due to extractions are possible because, just as the quantum universe teaches us, the energy of which we are infused, is that same energy connecting us to all things. Events in our lives can therefore be changed, simply by altering the energy of something which is affecting you presently.
An example would be working with a patient who was suffering from nausea. I reached into her body, and changed the relationship the energy had with her body. The change in the ethereal body automatically changed the physical body, the result, of which was relief from the nausea.
