Read through any modern media platform, and heck throw in a book or two while you are at it, and you will discover a common truth; Love is the essence that heals. Love helps us to find a measure of the whole. While I do not believe, for myself personally, another human will complete me, I can agree Love is a balm for our soul & psyche.
We have dedicated newsletters, podcasts and blog posts sharing experiences of change and internal healing gained through Shamanic healing. We are ever pointed towards, what appears to be a collective wisdom, if we cannot feel love for ourselves, or perhaps even feel love, the truth does not matter.
Over the years of working with patients (I use the etymology of the patient – one who suffers) I have encountered many types of wounds. A very common denominator of the effect of our wounds, is the scars we have accumulated may, in essence, take us away from our ability to apply love to ourselves. It appears we are often unable to know what real love looks like, or how to create it.
If we are to return aspects of ourselves home, or awaken dormant aspects, we try to make sure someone is actually home to receive the gifts of healing, spirit is going to bring to them. Now that may sound a bit funny, or perhaps even a bit absurd. Breathing the Heart Back Home is a beautiful way to call our soul to return. A secondary aspect to this is unplugging from situations that suck the life out of us. Our wounds and wounded situations become a part of our belief system. We chose to hide away, or perhaps even give away, our heart and love energy, in an effort to keep it safe.
We call our spirit back, bringing with it our soul pieces back home, to integrate into the chamber of the Heart. The heart, even its physical form of four chambers, is designed to create a bond. Pumping Oxygen into blood, or pumping emotions through our heart to be expressed in other areas of our body; the heart is the space of integration. What is not brought into relationship, into integration, with the core essence of the heart remains outside of the whole, an unacknowledged part.
This process cannot be achieved through the intellect. It cannot be touched by the Ego. It is of our soul, our inner aspect. Healing does not occur in the mind, rather healing occurs in the spiritual aspect of self. Feelings are the antennae of the soul. Whenever our feelings are hurt (especially as children) we react protectively and close down. In our heart we access feeling by use of breath. When we hold back our feelings, we hold our breath. When we hold the breath, we restrict the vital nourishment of air to our cells and muscles, and in effect, deaden ourselves. Deeping the breath allows repressed feelings to surface and be mobilized, freeing the heart from the heaviness of grief, allowing the natural balance of taking in and letting go, to be restored.
Wherever you are, drop into yourself for a moment. Can you feel an aspect of yourself you do not love? Self Healing is a beginning. Listen to find whatever small truth it may contain for you. If you need more, I ask you to search through the resources and healing tools you have acquired along the way. You will find any number of mediations, videos or ways to centre yourself, to take an inventory of soul. Funny way to put it, but there you have it.
The more we love ourselves the more it allows our vibration to stay inside our own bodies and become pure love – the more we stay in our bodies the more we can understand how we are being triggered. How do we stay in love, in forgiveness, in tolerance to others?? If we brought our energy fields back inside of ourselves and we did not love ourselves, our old fears and patterns would push our spiritual essence back out. Loving ourselves becomes a very important part of energetically staying in our space.
